To increase lifesaving of dogs and cats in Alameda County and beyond, on February 1, 2014, Maddie's Fund® and Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) will begin their mutually beneficial relationship.

Maddie's Fund has funded animal rescue and veterinary school shelter medicine training and research through grants across the nation for over 15 years, and is opening our first-ever shelter in 2015 at 4280 Hacienda Boulevard in Pleasanton, California. Maddie's CenterSM plans to focus on finding loving homes for wonderful dogs and cats that may need a little extra care due to treatable medical and behavioral conditions.

In preparation for Maddie's Center, Maddie's Fund and TVAR will be collaborating to expand TVAR's existing foster-based adoption program. The program will enable Maddie's Fund to begin lifesaving efforts and build a network of foster homes for treatable pets before the Center's opening date.

Currently, TVAR saves 800 - 1,000 animal lives each year, including many that fit into the healthy and treatable categories. Because of TVAR's experience and reputation, a partnership between our organizations will allow Maddie's Fund to learn from a more experienced organization and build upon existing relationships. Together, Maddie's Fund and TVAR plan to maintain or increase the number of animals adopted per year, while increasing the number of dogs and cats with treatable medical and behavioral conditions that are fostered by the organizations existing and new volunteers.

About Maddie's Fund

Maddie's Fund® is a family foundation established in 1994 by Dave and Cheryl Duffield and is the fulfillment of a promise to their inspirational dog, Maddie. She provided them much joy from 1987 – 1997 and continues to inspire them today.

The Foundation has awarded over $265 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, pioneering shelter medicine education and establishing foster care as a standard across the U.S.

Maddie's Fund proudly offers the industry a national voice, important funding opportunities for bold ideas, learning resources and access to collaborate and share innovative solutions. The Foundation invests its resources in a commitment to keeping pets and people together, creating a safety net of care for animals in need and operating within a culture of inclusiveness and humility. #ThanksToMaddie.
